Actually, I just used hydrogen peroxide. It forms water-soluble complexes with tungsten but doesn’t touch ThO2. The process is very slow though. It takes weeks especially if you use thich rods.

I bought 40 rods but processed half of them. Each rod, with a size of 3.2x175 mm, weights around 25 grams. It cost 175 USD in total. And I used 50% peroxide, occasionally changed the solution and poured fresh peroxide until reaction finished. used 1.5 liters in total.

А что дальше делать с торием? У меня когда - то было немного, с полграмма, двуокиси - так и не придумал ничего интересного.
